Santa Barbara man dies several hours after being involved in crash
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Santa Barbara police are investigating after a man died under bizarre circumstances early Sunday morning.
According to police, at around 2 a.m. dispatchers received a frantic call after a 53-year-old man had collapsed in his bathroom.
Paramedics arrived at the home on Broadmoor Plaza and rendered aid to the man, but he died at the scene.
Police began investigating and learned that the man was involved in a moped accident several hours earlier.
According to police, the man and a friend were riding mopeds around midnight on the 900 block of North Hope Avenue when they crashed into each other.
Both men appeared to be uninjured and remounted their bikes and traveled to a friend's house. The man eventually decided to go home after he started experiencing chest pains.
