Delta Air Lines’ makes final Santa Barbara flights
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Delta Air Lines made their last stop in Santa Barbara Tuesday. The Atlanta-based air lines had one flight between Santa Barbara (SBA) and Salt Lake City (SLC).
Santa Barbara is one of 10 airports Delta Air Lines will be suspending services to this month.
"We're hoping that they will be coming back. Their office will remain here. Some staff will remain here. So there's every indication that they do plan to come back," Santa Barbara Airport Business Development Manager Deanna Zachrisson said.
Delta Air Lines just resumed flights in and out of Santa Barbara in December following a previous hiatus. Delta flew three times a day to and from Salt Lake City.
"I wrote letters the last time they quit. And all of my friends wrote, but, you know, they're a corporation. They have to do what they have to do," Helene Glassman, Santa Barbara traveler said.
In a statement Delta said, those customers who have return flights back to Santa Barbara will be rerouted on Delta to other LA area airports. Or they'll come back to Santa Barbara on other airlines.
"But I would still rather fly Delta than any other airline, I just don't like flying other airlines," Glassman said.
The Santa Barbara Airport hopes this is only a temporary setback due to the pandemic.
