Missing Templeton Man Chad Corpuz Identified as Body Recovered in Late July

TEMPLETON, Calif. (KEYT) – Chad Corpuz, a 37-year-old Templeton man reported missing in June, has been identified as the body recovered on the west shoulder of Highway 101 on July 31.

On July 31, around 11:05 a.m., dispatchers received a call from employees of the California Department of Transportation about a possible dead body on the west shoulder of Highway 101 near Vineyard Road stated a press release from the California Highway Patrol-Templeton Area (CHP).

First responders arrived to find the body of a man, identified this week as 37-year-old Chad Corpuz, lying face down on the dirt shoulder without any forms of identification at the scene detailed the CHP.

Corpuz was reported missing after he walking away from his Templeton home without his cell phone or vehicle on June 16 and did not show up to work the next day noted the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office shared that Corpuz was considered as an at-risk missing person due to a potential mental health crisis.

According to the CHP, Corpuz's death is considered suspicious and is subject to a joint investigation between their statewide agency and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
