Santa Barbara City Council Candidates Address Housing, Development at Forum

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Santa Barbara City Council candidates gathered at Cabrillo Pavilion Thursday to discuss some of the key issues facing the city, including housing, development, affordability and the local business climate.

The forum was hosted by the Radius Group and gave candidates an opportunity to speak directly to voters about their priorities and what they would seek to change at City Hall.

Housing and development were among the major topics discussed, as Santa Barbara continues to grapple with high housing costs and questions about how — and where — the city should accommodate additional housing.

Candidates were also asked about the city's business climate and how Santa Barbara can support local businesses while addressing affordability and quality-of-life concerns.

The discussion comes as voters consider the candidates who want to represent them on the Santa Barbara City Council.

For voters, the forum offered an opportunity to hear candidates directly address issues that could shape the city's approach to housing, development and the local economy.
