SLO Police respond to attempted suicide by cop

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – San Luis Obispo Police officers responded around 3:19 p.m. on Friday to a 44-year-old man sitting in the intersection of Higuera Street and Broad Street claiming to want a "suicide by cop", according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department report.
The SLO man was struck by a car, while in the intersection and remained uncooperative as officers attempted to administer first aid. The driver remained on the scene with officers to cooperate.
Crisis Intervention specialized police officers attempted negotiation and de-escalating efforts.
After the man indicated he had a weapon, SLO PD reported using "less lethal police tools to detain and arrest the man."
The 44-year-old man was transported to a hospital for injuries sustained in the car-hit. Later, he was booked into SLO County Jail on a felony resisting arrest charge.
