Coast Village Road rebounds from traffic project with early holiday shopping and dining events

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -  The stores and restaurants on Coast Village Road have been put to the test in recent months with transportation projects throughout the area and traffic issues.  Now for many business owners,  they want the public to come back to many specials and deals.

The Coast Village Improvement Association has a week of sales and promotional activities underway including a day of specials on Saturday. The event is called Coast Village Week.
A social media raffle is part of the finale with over $4500. in prizes including a stay at the Rosewood Miramar.
There will also be trunk sales, special jewelry selections, widespread store discounts, meet and greets with artists, and food and drink specials.  That includes a $10. margarita deal at the Local restaurant.

Looking ahead the merchants are planning many activities for the holidays with events, entertainment, decorations and a visit from Santa Claus.

The area has seen a tremendous impact of traffic from the new roundabout project. That is nearly done and it's expected to improve the traffic flow in the area in all directions as well as on and off of Highway 101.

Many business owners say the Coast Village Improvement Association is on the right track with events and decorations coming up.

The owner of the Local restaurant, Mike Sheldon says, "create more of a community, make it more pedestrian friendly, prettier, we've got the  mediums we have the land."

Nearby in the Johnny Was clothing store, manager Vanessa Lynn says she is often making recommendations up and down the street. "The more we support each other, the better that we are going to be as a group. I like to walk the boulevard, things change all the time. Know what's in other stores."
There will also be collaboration with the Rosewood Miramar Beach. Managing Director Rick Fidel says,
"the incredible shopping, the boutiques, the restaurants, everything down here is  exactly  what our customers need and we are so thankful to have Coast Village right around the corner from us."

Looking ahead Fidel says, "there's no better place to be than Montecito, Miramar and Coast Village Road for the holidays."

Collaboration is essential for the area to regain many local visitors in addition to the many guests from out of town coming in.

This comes at a time when the spotlight has been shining in recent years on the Funk Zone and the State St. Promenade where changes have garnered a lot of attention.
