CARPINTERIA, Calif. - A live power line in Carpinteria sparked a small fire Monday afternoon that was quickly brought under control.

The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District arrived at the scene to find two sections of the wire blowing in the wind near 6200 Foothill Rd. near Casitas Pass Road.

Southern California Edison was contacted and two crew trucks arrived. The California Highway Patrol blocked the road for traffic.

Employees of a greenhouse cannabis operation nearby were evacuated to the street for safety.

A smoldering fire in the light landscaping and vegetation was whipped up by winds but doused by firefighters once the power line was turned off.

The road was reopened about an hour later.
