District Attorney sentences man in 2018 inmate death at Ventura County Jail
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - Ventura County District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced Thursday that a man has been sentenced to six years in state prison for the 2018 death of a Ventura County Jail inmate.
The DA's Office said, on Sept. 11, 2018, Daniel Louis Fuller and Jeffrey Kibler were both housed in the same quad at the jail.
Fuller allegedly wanted Kibler to leave the quad and when Kibler refused to leave, Fuller punched him one time in the face before dragging him to the main quad door.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, 53-year-old Kibler was rushed to the Ventura County Medical Center where he later died due to a ruptured spleen.
Fuller initially pled not guilty to murder charges, but later pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter by an unlawful act in October 2020.
