Oxnard man sentenced to life in prison for fatal hit-and-run
VENTURA, Calif. - An Oxnard man convicted of second-degree murder for intentionally hitting and killing a man has been sentenced to 36 years to life in prison.
Juan De Dios Gallegos III, 26, of Oxnard received his sentence on Monday.
Gallegos was found guilty by a jury in the death of 31-year-old Michael James Holley in October.
Holley was struck and killed in an alley on the 2000 block of Mariposa Street on May 23.
Investigators spoke with witnesses who said the driver of a white pickup intentionally struck and killed the man.
Gallegos was identified as the driver and later arrested for Holley’s death. He was already in jail at the time on a parole violation.
The case was investigated by the Oxnard Police Department.
