Scooter Rider Has Moderate Injuries After Collision With Vehicle on El Camino; Driver Arrested After Fleeing the Scene

ATASCADERO, Calif. (KEYT) – A person riding a scooter suffered moderate injuries after a collision with a vehicle on El Camino Real Wednesday afternoon.

On Thursday, the City of Atascadero shared that the driver of the involved vehicle, identified as a 22-year-old Atascadero man, was arrested for felony hit and run, DUI causing injury, and misdemeanor hit and run.

On July 22, around 5 p.m., officers responded to a reported traffic collision in the 7100 block of El Camino Real stated a press release from the City of Atascadero.

Officers were able to determine that the person riding the scooter had moderate injuries and that the driver of the involved vehicle had fled the scene noted the local municipal government.

According to the City of Atascadero, after driving away from the scene of the collision on El Camino, the driver was involved in a second collision near the intersection of Curbail Avenue and San Luis Avenue.

The 22-year-old then fled on foot into a nearby business where he was detained by officers and he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries explained the City of Atascadero.

He was transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail after being medically cleared shared the City of Atascadero.
