SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A popular San Luis Obispo brewery is raising money for victims of the Australia wildfires.

SLO Brew is hosting an Australia Disaster Relief Fundraiser this weekend to raise money for the Australian Red Cross.

SLO Brew Rock and small batch distillery SLO Stills will donate 25 percent of all food and beverage sales on January 18 and 19 to the relief efforts.

"Anyone living in California is no stranger to the threat of wildfire," said co-owner Hamish Marshall. "Our hearts are with the volunteers and families of those affected by this tragic state of emergency."

Australia is seeing its worst wildfire season in decades. About 25 million acres have burned. At least 28 people have died since fire season began in late July, and thousands of homes are destroyed. Experts say millions of animals have died in the fires.

As part of this weekend's fundraiser, more than 20 small businesses will set up from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the SLO Brew Rock Event Center each day. There will also be musical performances.

San Luis Obispo County businesses also donated more than $6,500 worth of raffle items to benefit the fundraiser, including wine baskets, a night at Hotel SLO and a Pismo Beach "staycation."

SLO Brew's downtown location, recently renamed The Carrissa, will also donate a percentage of sales from an afterparty starting at 10 p.m. Saturday.
