Lompoc police, sheriff’s deputies respond to reports of 2 shootings

LOMPOC, Calif. - Police and sheriff's deputies responded to reports of two separate shootings in Lompoc Wednesday.
Police tell our newsroom one shooting was reported in the 600 block of West Maple Avenue. A second shooting was reported in the 700 block of E Street.
Police say any reports that it was an active shooter situation were false.
Sergeant Augustin Arias says the shootings appear to be gang related. Police say there were no victims, but suspects were still at large Wednesday night.
“It happened in the middle of the day, ten after 3 p.m," said Nancy Stevens, who lives near one of the shooting scenes. "Somebody drove by and just shot, and this is the second time already this week. Monday we had a shooting, and my car was shot. It's getting bad, you can't let your children come out and play anymore.”
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office confirms it also assisted Lompoc police in their investigation.
