Local authorities give updates on deadly boat fire

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Local authorities and law enforcement agencies held a press conference at the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Headquarters in Santa Barbara on Monday to provide updates on the deadly dive boat Conception fire.

The press conference began at 4 p.m. with speakers from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Barbara County Fire Department, United States Coast Guard, and other agencies.

Among the new developments, Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said four additional bodies were located on the ocean floor but have yet to be recovered. The bodies that were recovered would need to be identified using DNA.

A flight restriction was also put in place in the area of the search. The Coast Guard will continue to search for victims throughout the evening.
