Arrest made in connection to Carpinteria bus stop attack

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection to an assault and robbery that occurred at a Carpinteria bus stop on Saturday, April 29.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, a 17-year-old Carpinteria resident was arrested at his home following an investigation.

The female victim reported being assaulted at a bus stop on the 400 block of Via Real just before 9:00 p.m.

Deputies say the victim was grabbed and violently struck and then dragged into a nearby field and robbed.

The victim called 911 and was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The suspect was transported to Santa Maria Juvenile Hall and could face charges of robbery and kidnapping in order commit a robbery.

Due to the suspect’s age, no other details were released.
