Major injury suffered in crash north of Ventura

A person had to be taken away by medical helicopter after being involved in a crash near Mobil Pier north of Ventura.

The call came in shortly after 12:00 p.m. on Monday.

California Highway Patrol said a red mini cooper was the sole vehicle involved in the crash. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway.

The northbound lane of U.S. 101 at La Conchita was closed for a period of time so the medical helicopter could land.
