Island To Shore Swimmer Raises Money For Special Olympics

Rachel Horn said she almost quit after starting her swim at Anacapa Island on Saturday morning, but she kept going.

She left Arch Rock at 4 a.m. and arrived at Silver Strand around 11:30, about thirty minutes earlier than expected.

She swam every stroke for the Special Olympics of Southern California.

Horn was escorted by boat for safety.

She grew up in Ventura swimming and has been training at Los Banos pool in Santa Barbara.

She works for Decker brands.

And thanks to donation from her employer and friends she raised $7,545.

It is not too late to donate, just log onto give.specialolympics.org/California?
