Developments emerge in Paso Robles murder

Police say there are new developments in the murder investigation of Paso Robles resident Victor Sanchez. Sanchez’s murder in February may be connected to an assault and robbery, in which Sanchez was the victim, last year.

In a Wednesday afternoon press conference police said there are five people involved in Sanchez’s assault and robbery.

They believe what happened that October night may have led to his death.

On February 23, Victor Sanchez was shot and killed in front of his apartment complex.

Investigators said that in October, Sanchez met a woman at a bar and they left the bar together in his car. A short time later he pulled over and was blocked in by another vehicle.

He was forced from his car and was beat with a crow bar and his wallet and car keys were stolen.

Sanchez gave key details that led to identifying two of the people involved.

Crystal Garner and her boyfriend Joseph Villarreal were identified and both are in jail on unrelated charges.

“Investigators developed probable cause to believe 49-year-old Maria Del Carmen Granados Fajardo of Paso Robles orchestrated and financed the robbery and assault of Mr. Sanchez,” said Lt. Ty Lewis of the Paso Robles Police Department.

Investigators said Fajardo was Sanchez’s ex-girlfriend.

Two other people are also believed to be involved in the assault and robbery. They were identified as Christine Garner and David Hernandez.

“With assistance of the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office investigators determined Christine Garner and David Hernandez fled to Mexico shortly after Mr. Sanchez’s murder,” said Lewis.

Police are now trying to figure out if any of them were involved in Sanchez’s murder.

The investigation into Sanchez’s death is still open and police are asking anyone with information to call them.
