Dog killer sentenced
A teenager convicted of killing his own pet is heading to state prison.
Andrew Delgado pleaded no contest to animal cruelty and arson.
A Ventura County judge sentenced the 18-year-old to 16 months in prison for burning one of his basset hounds to death.
It happened in October behind his family home in Camarillo Heights. Neighbors reported seeing smoke from a fire. Investigators said it appears he poured lighter fluid on the dog and then set the dog on fire. The 3-year-old dog, named Buddy, died from burns.
Prosecutors said they asked for a three-year prison term.
