Skyline Fire Out
The Skyline fire in the hills of Ventura is now 100 percent contained. It was named after Skyline Drive.People on that street had a good view of the fire fight that started around 4:45p.m. Monday.City, County and Cal Fire Crews responded quickly with enough resources to get the upper hand fast.It grew from five to 58 acres and was then stopped in its tracks.By noon today it was out.It now looks like a big black patch of dirt next to some power towers and an avocado orchard. The fire did scorch an edison line and some avocadoes trees but no one was hurt.Fire crews used the Arroyo Verde Park as a staging area for water dropping helicopters. But to use the park they had to evacuate hundred of kids at soccer practice.Crews say winds were in their favor. The Ventura Fire Department used Facebook to keep neighbors up to date. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
