Goleta celebrates 20th birthday as a city with free community event

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – In celebration of Goleta turning 20 years old this year, city officials said there will be a free community event on Saturday for the city's milestone birthday.

The city recognized its 20th birthday in February, but on March 5, Goleta opens its celebrations to the public with a free event at Rancho La Patera & Stow House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

City officials provided the following itinerary for the event:

  • Birthday toast with sparkling cider, lemon buntini’s, and special tributes at 2:30 p.m. Lineup includes remarks from Mayor Paula Perotte, First Mayor Margaret Connell, Congressman Salud Carbajal, Senator Monique Limón, Santa Barbara County Supervisors Gregg Hart and Joan Hartman, Sheriff Bill Brown, the Goodland Coalition and more
  • Live music from the Salt Martians (Bluegrass) and The Nombres (Rock and Country)
  • Special performances from the Dos Pueblos High School Theatre Company, Junior Spirit of Fiesta, and Teen Star Finalist
  • 20 Year City Hall Signature Frame – sign your name on this piece of history
  • Photo station to remember the day
  • Free tractor rides by the Ranch Yard and train rides next door at the Goleta Train Depot
  • Delicious food available for purchase from AR Catering and Elubia’s Kitchen
  • Lemonade and adult beverages for purchase in souvenir cup
  • Meet the newest Stow family additions – baby goats Ida and Nellie, and Sherman the rooster
  • Limited edition 20 Year specialty swag for sale and giveaways!
  • Premiere of our special 20-minute, 20 Year Reflections Video at 3:15 p.m.; you can watch a trailer here
  • Interactive City information tables – find out the latest information directly from City staff

Goleta said this event is a great opportunity to learn about city events and community information.

Event organizers said there will be representatives from the City Clerk’s Office, Community Relations, Environmental Services, Goleta Valley Library, Parks & Open Space, Parks & Recreation, Public Works and more.

Organizers said they want to highlight the #GoodLandGoodShopping table headed by a Giftbar representative who can help businesses sign up for this local gift card program and show community members how to shop local and help support local businesses.
