Johnson & Johnson vaccine set to return to Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — After a two-week pause Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine can resume being part of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
On April 12 the U.S. FDA paused 6.8 million doses of the Janssen vaccine. The FDA stated the pause was due to six cases of rare blood clots that occurred in women between 18 and 48. The clots occurred six to thirteen days after the vaccination.
On April 23 the FDA stated following a thorough review they lifted the pause to continue the use of the Janssen vaccine. They stated the benefits of protection against COVID-19 outweighed the risk of a rare blood clot. Before the pause just shy of 8 million one-dose Janssen, shots had been administered.
The pause to the Janssen vaccine also paused some of Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics' vaccine clinics. Now they’re trying to resume those clinics.
Right now SBNC is calling their patients. Once they're finished vaccinating them they will allow anyone in the community to sign-up for an appointment.
