Local showroom business leaves State Street for new location in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, California โ Lisa Faitell opened Faitell Attractions on State Street in 2020.
"People thought we were kind of crazy! We opened at the beginning of COVID," said Faitell.
But the owner had purpose for her timing.
"As an interior designer of 30 years I saw people were staying home. And we thought this was a good way to introduce what we do," said Faitell.
The interior design center quickly grew popular.
Then her business took a turn.
"Our target market which was the local community wasnโt coming down to State Street anymore because of the condition of it ... the state of State Street," said Faitell.
Due to a combination of concerns over rent, parking, and safety surrounding her store, Faitell decided to move to another location on West Canon Perdido Street.
"Itโs a beautiful story and they have amazing stuff โฆ I was really struck when I came back how many places had closed on state street and has a ghostly feel to it," said customer Mary Thompson of Faitell Attraction.
In addition to the larger space, Faitell says thereโs more room for collaboration with artists in the community.
"Working in a collaborative space has always been a dream for us. And itโs wonderful meeting everyone. Taking notes. And weโre learning so much," said stylist assistant Kendahl Schoen, who works at Faitell Attraction.
"Itโs fabulous. I really like what they have. Itโs collective. Itโs reasonably priced. I think itโs lovely," said Thompson.
The showroom is set to hold its Grand Opening celebration on Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m.
"I kind of use the term โฆ it tantalizes the senses โฆ and itโs only gotten better since we moved to this spot .. weโve only been open a week and so far the feedback has been wonderful," said Faitell.
Faitell Attractions - The Collective is a popular interior design and curated consignment center in downtown Santa Barbara.
Faitell of the showroom says when she opened the business, the focus was on fashionable vintage and upcycled furniture, antiques and home decor from around the world.
In addition to one-of-a-kind furniture and accessories, the showroom offers custom window fashions, window treatments and more.
The new 4,000-foot showroom is now located at 127 West Canon Perdido, Santa Barbara.
