Santa Ynez Chumash Tribe “Project Pink” donate $12,000 to Ridley-Tree Cancer Center
SANTA YNEZ, Calif. – The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians donated $12,662 to the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center after a month-long fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Chumash Casino Resort's Project Pink sold pink-colored snacks, desserts, and drinks throughout October raising $6,331 from a portion of the proceeds.
The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation then matched that amount doubling raised funds to aid in breast cancer research and treatment.
“These funds will allow us to become even more equipped during a challenging season as we advance breast cancer research and treatment, improving survival and quality of life for thousands of patients. We consider it a privilege to serve those facing a cancer diagnosis and are deeply touched when members of our community recognize this commitment and offer their support,” said Dr. Matt Baumann, Vice President of Oncology at Ridley-Tree Cancer Center.
Chefs at Chumash Casino Resort added new items to the 2022 pink campaign such as a cherry matcha cake, a pink velvet whoopie pie, and a pistachio rosewater tart.
“Year after year, our hardworking Food and Beverage team demonstrates its dedication to shedding light on breast cancer awareness,” said Tribal Chairman for the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Kenneth Kahn.
