Santa Maria Transit returns to full service, resume rates
SANTA MARIA Calif. – The Santa Maria Area Transit returned to full service Thursday and passengers are required to once again pay a fare.
Fares will remain the same as usual with fares starting at $0.75. It's the first time in 14 months that the SMAT charged a fare.
There will be some changes in the daily operation:
- All routes will have an additional run at the start of the day in the morning
- Frequency of Routes 2 and 3 will be restored to twice hourly.
- Extending Route 8 to Crossroads Shopping Center
According to a transit spokesman, there will be two phases of the full service plan.
The SMAT said full weekday service is expected to resume on Aug. 8.
All riders are required to wear face coverings at all times as mandated by federal guidelines.
