Ventura County Man Colorado Shooting Victim
A Butte County man is talking about his connection to the mass shooting in Colorado.His cousin was one of the 12 people killed.Travis Olexie-Wicz says he’s proud of 29-year-old staff Sergeant Jesse Childress.Childress was from Ventura County, and was stationed in Aurora when accused gunman James Holmes opened fire inside a theater last month.Childress dove in front of a friend, stopping any bullets from hitting her.Travis says she saw Childress lying on the floor, not moving. His cousin sacrificed his life for her.Childress was one of two servicemen killed that night. He was honored at Buckley’s Air Force Base two weeks ago.
