San Luis Obispo man arrested after stolen vehicle pursuit ends in Arroyo Grande
ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - A San Luis Obispo man was arrested Thursday morning after a stolen vehicle pursuit ended in Arroyo Grande.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office said deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle at the Octagon Barn in SLO around 7:50 a.m.
When they tried to approach the vehicle, the driver reportedly sped off. Deputies gave chase with assistance from multiple other agencies as the car traveled on the 101 freeway toward the Five Cities area.
The man then drove into the Grover Beach area on Oak Park Boulevard.
Officers said the suspect vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of Oak Park and Newport Avenue, however, no one was injured and the vehicles sustained only minor damage.
The suspect continued driving away and deputies ended the pursuit around 8 a.m.
Later that morning, Arroyo Grande police officers located the suspect vehicle abandoned at the edge of the city near Grover Beach.
Grover Beach police then spotted a person who matched the suspect's description at the CVS on Grand Avenue.
The 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene. Police said the vehicle he had been driving was determined to be stolen.
The man is also suspected of being in involved in multiple other burglaries in the area.
