Storm drain replacement digs up parts of East Beach
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — With the end of Labor Day Weekend came to the unofficial end of summer. And the start of construction.
About fifty years ago Santa Barbara city and county teamed up to build a stormwater drain for Santa Barbara’s Eastside. Now city officials said it’s time to replace the drain so it can continue doing its job.
Construction started shortly after Labor Day Weekend and the end of peak beach season. Construction crews will be working on East Beach between Chase Palm Park Calle and Puerta Vallarta.
Water resource engineering manager, Jon Frye, said the project is expected to cost the county half a million dollars. And it's expected to be completed in November.
