Wednesday evening forecast May 20th
Minor warming expected through Thursday with weakening onshore flow then cooling with increasing marine layer Friday and Saturday. A warming trend will begin Sunday and peak Tuesday next week as high pressure develops.
Wednesday morning we had a few low-level clouds over the inland valleys and along some coastal areas. By midday we had more sunshine, wind and warmth. Highs ranged from the upper 60s to the upper 70s.
A ridge of high pressure will build over California on Thursday, which will weaken the wind while it warms our temperatures. Daytime highs on Thursday will climb well above average into the mid 70s along the coast and 80s in the valleys. The Santa Barbara south coast and mountains will be dealing with gusty northerly winds this will keep high temperatures there close to 80 degrees.
That warming trend ends Friday with more onshore flow from a disturbance to our north. This will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures cooling down several degrees.
This weekend and early next week, though, another ridge builds overhead, and that will lead to another warming trend through Tuesday. Expect your Memorial Day to be in the mid 70s to low 80s along the coast and in the upper 80s to low 80s inland.
