Tuesday evening forecast – May 5th

Warm temperatures and gusty winds will continue to dominate the region with a significant warming trend through Thursday. As the ridge builds the heat wave will bring near record high temperatures. Daytime highs along the coasts will warm into the mid 80s to low 90s, with interior valleys in the 90s to 100s. These conditions will prompt a Heat Advisory for San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening.

Along with above average temperatures, advisory level winds will be a concern along the Santa Barbara South Coast, Santa Barbara County mountains & Ventura County Mountains. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until Wednesday morning. North winds will range 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. The Montecito hills could endure gusts up to 60 mph after midnight. Another wind event is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

The heat will peak mid-week with Thursday likely to be the hottest day out of the week. Models are showing good clearing along the Central and South Coasts with mainly clear skies from dawn through dusk. If winds remain calm along the Central Coast there could be some areas of fog possible along with low level clouds but its not likely until the end of the work week.

The ridge will break on Friday allowing for 5 to 10 degrees of cooling. As we favor an onshore flow the marine layer will return allowing for an increase in cloud coverage and cooler temperatures. Overall bringing a nice relief with pleasant conditions on tap for Mother's Day weekend.
