Tracking rain this week

We continue with some warmer than average temperatures Monday before a significant weather pattern shift occurs mid-week. Expect temperatures into the 80s and some 90s with mostly clear skies for many microclimates. Winds will be light and offer more of an onshore push, helping temperatures ease a few degrees from the weekend. A Beach Hazard Statement is in effect for Ventura county beaches through Tuesday morning. Expect surf to be 3-6Ft and some dangerous rip currents.

A low pressure system swings into the area Tuesday. This will drop temperatures 5-10 degrees and brings cloud coverage. Some areas will fail to see the sun, while slow clearing patterns are expected for most. We start with a measly 10% chance of showers which quickly jumps to 90% by Wednesday.

A cool system will bring instability and rain to the area by early Wednesday morning. Expect light to moderate showers throughout the day, bringing rainfall totals from 0.5-1 inch for most beaches and 1-2 inches for south facing beaches near Santa Barbara. Some thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday through Thursday bringing brief periods of heavy downpours. This is the first measurable rain in quite some time. So, while impacts are expected to be minimal, some flooding may occur as vegetation is very dry.
