SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - Even with dry weather, winter storm preparations are in an active mode in many parts of the Central Coast.

Sandbag stations in Santa Barbara County open this Thursday, October 15th.

Limit of 25 per person. They are not intended for commercial operations.

Property-protection guidelines are on the Santa Barbara County Sandbags Webpage.

The Santa Barbara County Flood Control department says it has been clearing out creeks and creating the maximum capacity for rain but in strong, steady storms it will not be enough based on past experiences.

That means the public needs to do as much as they can to protect their property.

City of Santa Barbara is expected to have sand ready at Fire Station 7 on Stanwood Drive and the City Yard on Yanonali St.
