Tracking a long duration heatwave

Happy Friday! We begin the morning with marine clouds and dense fog through the region. Drive safely and utilize low beams when needed. We watch for clouds to clear rapidly and temperatures to warm quick. Expect 80s, 90s and a few triple digits. This is the first day of our long duration heatwave. An Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Advisory have been placed for most of the area. Stay hydrated and start prepping for a hot weather pattern.

We wake up to more fog and marine layer influence Saturday morning, with a similar clearing pattern. This will be a toasty weekend with many areas rising into the 80s, 90s and triple digits once again. Minimal weather pattern shifts through Sunday.

We start the new week with above average temperatures and a gradual warming trend. Many areas peak with the heat by the middle of the week. All Heat Alerts are set to expire by Thursday, however, long range data suggest a toasty pattern through the middle of the month. More information to come.
