CHP Turns To The Public For Help Investigating Fatal Crash On Black Road

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Investigators are turning to the public for help investigating a fatal crash on Black Road last week.

On Aug. 28, around 3:50 p.m., a Ford F-150 driven by a 39-year-old Lompoc man veered off the roadway and rolled down an embankment detailed a press release Monday from the California Highway Patrol-Santa Maria Area (CHP).

An adult woman from Santa Maria was riding as a passenger at the time of the rollover and both she and the driver were ejected from the vehicle shared the CHP.

According to the CHP, the woman suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and she was declared dead at the scene.

The 39-year-old Lompoc driver was transported from the scene to Marian Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment shared the law enforcement agency.

On Monday, the California Highway Patrol-Santa Maria Office confirmed their office is conducting an investigation into the fatal incident and anyone with more information, especially if you witnessed the crash, to contact the CHP's Santa Maria Office at 805-608-6310.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of life in this crash, and we extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Please drive attentively and always wear your seatbelt. Taking necessary precautions can prevent tragedy," shared Santa Maria Area Commander Lieutenant Joseph Rodriguez.
