VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Fire crews responded to a one-acre fire in the northernmost portions of Ventura County along the border with Kern County, east of Ventucopa and southwest of Pine Mountain Club.

According to the Los Padres National Forest, crews arrived to find a small fire with a slow rate of spread in the Apache Canyon area and forward progress of the flames was halted a little after 5 p.m. Thursday.

Firefighters were able to create a barrier around the fire before it spread more than the initial assessment and remained on the scene to monitor the situation.
