Shoppers support Mujeres Makers Market

Mujeres Makers Market returns to El Presidio

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) A monthly pop up called Mujeres Makers Market took place on Sunday.

Some shoppers cal it a way to support women of color who own businesses.

The market at El Presidio shows off their handcrafted goods, wellness products, art, baked goods and more.

Sonia Gonzalez, who owns So Good Creations, enjoys taking part.

"I love that it keeps me connected to the community. Especially, the, like BIPOC community. It's important, for us to kind of connect and and stay, just up to date with each other, you know, but also, like, uplift each other and support each other. and, it really does become a community within the community," said Gonzalez.

The Mujeres Makers Market will celebrate its 5th anniversary on May 3.

The mission is to bring visibility to women and to create a safe space for their businesses to thrive.
