Power shutoffs announced for Southern California Edison customers in Southern Santa Barbara County
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Southern California Edison has current and potential public safety power shutoffs for customers in parts of Southern Santa Barbara County.
The City of Santa Barbara's Office of Emergency Services set up a Community Resource Center for those impacted by the potential shutoffs at the Residence Inn at 6350 Hollister Avenue in Goleta.
The map below, courtesy of Southern California Edison's Outage Map, shows the areas currently under a public safety power shutoff (the black borders with diagonal black lines), areas under the potential shutoffs highlighted in orange, and the location of the Community Resource Center (the green building marker).
The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for the area due to strong winds, low humidity, and high temperatures from Tuesday, Jan. 7 through Wednesday, Jan. 8.

According to Southern California Edison, public safety power shutoffs are a critical tool to prevent wildfires during weather conditions that make wildfires more likely or more dangerous.
