Santa Barbara woman who died at Harbor after attempted water rescue identified Wednesday

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A woman, later identified as 64-year-old Susan Vaughn of Santa Barbara, died after an attempted water rescue near Santa Barbara Harbor on Sep. 3, at 12:43 p.m.

On Wednesday, Sep. 11, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Bureau identified Vaughn and shared that while her cause and manner of death are still pending, "this death does not appear suspicious".

After the victim was seen unresponsive, a good Samaritan jumped into the water and flagged down a boat while beginning life-saving measures before emergency services took over, detailed the Santa Barbara Police Department (SBPD).

Both Harbor Patrol and the patient were on the boat where the victim was declared dead before she reached the hospital, explained the SBPD.

This is an ongoing investigation and Your News Channel will have more information as it becomes available.
