Fire teams remain at nearly 1400-acre grass fire southeast of Cuyama since Tuesday

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – Fire crews are still responding to an approximately 1,383-acre grass fire southeast of Cuyama first reported on Tuesday.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department's latest update on the fire was issued Friday morning at 10:42 a.m. and notes the same acreage with an updated 80 percent containment.

As of Wednesday at 4 p.m., 200 firefighters are on the scene and have successfully stopped forward progress of the fire with 50 percent containment shared the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Tuesday's evacuation order was lifted for areas south of Foothill Road from Castro Canyon to Santa Barbara Canyon as part of the fire response tweeted Santa Barbara County Fire Department on Wednesday.

Four fixed-wing air tankers and three Type 1 helicopters are part of the aerial response to the vegetation fire detailed Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The latest report from CAL FIRE SLO is that the fire has now reached 1,383 acres and is 10% contained, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
