First Storm in February Hits the Central Coast

Santa Barbara County, Calif. - The Central Coast started the first day of February with nonstop rain.

A set of back-to-back storms are set to continue onto next week.

The second storm is set to arrive late Sunday.

According to ReadySBC.org, some ways you can prepare for the rainstorm include grabbing sandbags for your property, preparing an emergency kit, and signing up for emergency alerts.

If you're on the road, the DMV recommends to reduce your speed 5 to 10 mph, keep a distance of 10 feet from the car in front of you, and leave 10 to 15 minutes before your destination.

Captain Scott Safechuck from Santa Barbara County Fire Department told your News Channel, " Our staffing levels are full and our incident management team has been aware of the potential of the incoming storms. We’re not activated, but in the event that we need to, we can stand up immediately.”

According to the National Weather Service, the second storm coming next week is set to be much more severe than the one that hit on Thursday.
