A frosty & frigid Friday morning, warming into a mild and sunny day
Thursdays overnight temperatures fell quickly below freezing for some areas and it will be a cool and frosty Friday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for parts of the interior Central Coast until 9am today, where temperatures could fall to 31 degrees. A High surf Advisory is still in effect for the northern half of the viewing area until 9am, waves have the possibility to reach 15 feet and rip currents will be dangerous. Mostly sunny skies will warm temperatures up and it will be a mild and pleasant day. Get outside and ride those bikes or go on a hike!
Saturday will be similar to Friday if not a few degrees warmer. Highs will climb into the middle 60s and we will be right on average for this time in January. We may see an increase in clouds towards the second half of the day as our next very weak system advances into the area. This next system looks warm and mainly dry, but areas north of Point Conception may see a sprinkle or two. Very minimal impacts expected expect for some very light rain overnight and some slightly breezy winds.
Sunday morning may be a little drizzly, but it’s looking mainly dry. Skies will turn mostly sunny and temperatures will warm a few degrees. This warming trend continues into next week and by Wednesday we will actually be above average. Highs will warm into the upper 60s, the first above average temperatures of the year!
