Another chilly morning Tuesday, turning into a pleasant and sunny evening

With clear skies, calm winds and a dry atmosphere, temperatures will free-fall and Tuesday morning will be the coolest this season! (Even cooler than Monday morning!) Grab some layers as you head out the door. Temperatures will likely be subfreezing for wind sheltered interior areas, its possible that temperatures could fall as low as 27 degrees. Multiple frost and freeze alerts are in effect so make sure to protect pipes, pets and plants. High surf will also be a main topic of discussion tonight into tomorrow as the next strong swell hits the coast. A High Surf Advisory is in effect starting 9pm this evening until 9am Friday, wave heights could reach 17FT in some areas and rip currents will be dangerous. Other than a cool morning and strong evening surf it'll be a pleasant day with highs climbing into the middle 60s and mostly sunny skies. Even though today will be the warmest of the workweek, we will still be a few degrees below average.

Wednesday morning will be chilly, but not nearly as cool as the last few days. Minimal day to day change is expected other than some stronger winds and cooler high temperatures. Another front will pass through the area Wednesday into Thursday bringing the jet stream down and allowing some stronger winds to mix down to the surface. We will likely see advisory level winds with potentially damaging gusts in higher terrain. A High Wind Warning along with a Wind Advisory have been issued for portions of the interior mountains and near the South Central Coast where winds could gust up to 60mph. Temperatures will struggle to warm into the middle 50s and skies will have some added cloud cover. There is a very slight chance for showers to arrive late Wednesday night, mainly north of Point Conception but most models show less than a tenth of an inch and very minimal impacts as far as precipitation.

Thursday morning may be a bit dreary with cool temperatures and increased cloud cover. Clouds may decrease, giving way to partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures will remain similar to the previous day. Winds will calm down slightly, but overall, it looks to be a copy and paste day to Wednesday. Friday into the weekend is when the next real weather pattern will shift. Clouds increase ahead of another front and rain is possible into the weekend. Models are pretty split with timing and amounts, lots of details are still in the air but its safe to say it will be cooler than average, windy with some clouds.
