Winds, waves and a warming trend Friday April 26th

Low pressure moves through the Nevada/California border. This is what we call an inside slider, meaning that the jet stream will be just to our east, rather than over the area. The dynamic set up of this system will create very strong westerly winds. As these winds hit the Central Coast terrain, they will be funneled through valleys causing the speed to increase, while high elevations will see strong winds mix down to peaks. A Wind Advisory has been issued for high terrain and the Gaviota Coast. Its imperative for high profile vehicles to drive safely as some gusts could reach 65mph or greater. Winds will help drive precipitation in the mountains as well. Theres a slight chance a shower could develop in lower terrain as well, but i'm suspecting, most low lying areas will remain dry. With such strong winds, clouds will mix out and skies turn sunny by the evening. Temperatures will warm into the mid to upper 60s and low 70s.

Winds die down, temperatures begin to warm and skies turn sunny by Saturday. All the disturbances in the atmosphere have moved out and a weak ridge begins to build. Expect to see highs in the upper 60s near the beaches and middle 70s inland. Get out and enjoy!

The real warming trend begins Sunday. High pressure will finally make its way to the area and this will cause a 5-8 degree warming pattern. Monday warms even further! There may be a few clouds to start the morning but clear and bright skies by the evening, the perfect beach day. Tuesday will be the warmest day of the workweek before another slight cooling trend begins Wednesday.
