Freezing overnight temperatures, cool to mild day

This weekend's weak cold front may have only brought a few sprinkles of rain to the Central Coast, but it certainly left behind very chilly temperatures and gusty winds. Following a blustery Sunday, Monday morning was frigid, but the afternoon was relatively calm and mild. Temperatures remain below seasonal average Tuesday and another round of Frost and Freeze Alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service.

A Freeze Warning will be in effect from 1am until 10am Tuesday morning for the Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley, and Central Ventura County Valleys. Overnight lows will be as cool as 29 degrees. Additionally, a Hard Freeze Warning will be in effect from 1am until 10am Tuesday as well, this time for the Cuyama Valley and for San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys. Sub-freezing overnight lows are expected to reach 25 degrees overnight. It is important to be proactive during these conditions, protecting plants and animals.

Another round of gusty winds are in the forecast starting Tuesday, meaning another round of Wind Alerts have been issued. A Wind Advisory will be in effect from 10am Tuesday until 4pm Wednesday for Santa Barbara County Mountains and Southwestern Coast, along with Ventura County Mountains. Wind speeds will be between 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph. This Advisory will then upgrade to a High Wind Watch for the same areas and be in effect from 4pm Wednesday until 4pm Thursday. The gusty northerly to northwesterly winds will be between 25-35 mph with gusts between 60-70 mph possible during these conditions.

Another weak low pressure system will move through the area by Wednesday and Thursday, bringing the chance for a light sprinkle yet again, but will keep temperatures cool and winds will crank up yet again.
