Plan for a beautiful Veterans Day weekend and rain next week

High pressure will build into the state over the weekend, making for a toasty warm Veterans Day Saturday, and a very nice Diwali on Sunday. Offshore flow will increase, assisting the warmup effect and keeping skies clear of clouds. Northeasterly winds will be breezy each morning in San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties.

Low temperatures Saturday morning will be in the 30s inland and 40s on the coast. High temperatures will mostly be in the 70s, with a smattering of low 80s. Coastal and inland conditions will be very similar to each other.

Monday is our big transition day. Temperatures will drop - in some cases by up to 10 degrees. Temperatures will continue to drop through the week, putting most areas into the 60s, and even some Central Coast beaches into the upper 50s.

Troughing and onshore flow will bring in marine layer stratus early next week. By midweek, rain is likely as a moderate Pacific system slips down the West Coast. Rain totals, storm timing, and duration are all still in flux, but should become clearer as we get closer to the event. With current models, we will likely surpass average November monthly rain totals.
