Wind and a chance of sprinkles lead us into Tuesday
Most of the region will likely stay dry, but a couple of models are showing a weak disturbance bringing some sprinkles this evening around Santa Maria, Vandenberg, and Lompoc. Overnight, there will be an impulse of rain in Kern County, bleeding slightly over the county lines into the Cuyama valley and the north Ventura County mountains. Chances are 10 to 30 percent overall, and totals are expected to be small, if measurable.
Sundowner winds will pick up the pace on the Southwest Coast tonight. Winds will strengthen more Tuesday night in all of Santa Barbara County with advisories likely.
Temperatures will be 4 to 8 degrees below normal Tuesday under another trough. Lows will be in the 40s to 50s. Highs will be in the 60s on the Central Coast, low 70s on the South Coast, and mostly in the upper 60s inland.
Offshore flow will develop Wednesday morning from the east, and Santa Ana winds will return. Santa Ana winds will be stronger Thursday, with advisories likely. Temperatures will warm a few degrees each day and fire danger will increase. There is a fire weather watch from noon Wednesday to 6:00 pm Thursday in the Ventura County mountains, south valleys, and central valleys.
Offshore flow will weaken Friday and an earlier sea breeze will hit the coast. A brief weak trough on Saturday will be replaced by a weak ridge on Sunday. Continued weak offshore flow will hinder the expansion of the marine layer.
