Winds lessen into Monday afternoon, but Santa Ana winds will get stronger midweek
Temperatures are again chilly Monday morning, and staying below normal in the afternoon. Highs will be in the 50s for interior areas, but in the low to mid 60s for coastal areas.
An upper low is moving across Arizona, grazing our region as it moves. It's setting us up for gusty offshore winds with cold air advection. Wind will be more centered across Ventura County instead of Santa Barbara County as the day goes.
A wind advisory expires at 9:00 am for the Ventura and Santa Barbara County mountains, and eastern Santa Ynez Range. It expires at 2:00 pm for the Southeast and Central Ventura County valleys. Winds will be 15 to 30 mph, with gusts above 45 mph.
A high surf advisory for the Central Coast expires at 10:00 pm Monday. Breaking waves will be 8 to 10 feet with local sets up to 13 feet.
The low will depart on Tuesday and northwest flow will linger. Skies will stay bright. On Wednesday, there will still be some offshore gradients and light Santa Ana winds will pick up with cold air advection.
Santa Ana's will be more moderate Thursday and the region will warm significantly with wind and high pressure. A strong ridge in the Eastern Pacific Ocean will nose into the region Friday, keeping our temperatures near or above normal.
The ridge will break down over the weekend and more clouds will move in by Sunday.
