Tuesday morning forecast September 7th

Temperatures are staying warm, but cooling slightly. The coast will be in the 70s, and inland in the 80s to low 100s.

A heat advisory is now extended through Friday night in interior valleys and mountains. A beach hazards statement will continue through the morning hours on the Ventura County coastline with breaking waves up to 5 feet.

The ridge of high pressure is starting to shift more easterly. As it shifts, heights will lower and onshore flow will crease, beginning a slow and gradual cooldown.

By Wednesday, the ridge will be centered around Utah before moving into the Four Corners region Thursday. This will open the door for some monsoon moisture, particularly in the mountains of the southeast parts of our region.

Over the weekend, the ridge will weaken, bringing temperatures within a few degrees of normal by Sunday.
