Thursday morning forecast August 12th

Temperatures are warming by a degree or two inland, but cooling on the coast Thursday. The coast will be in the 60s to 70s, coastal valleys in the 80s to 90s, and interior in the low 100s.

The marine layer will smoosh on the Central Coast, and will be very sparse on the South Coast. Onshore flow will increase through the day, allowing a stronger sea breeze to pick up and causing coastal cooling. An eddy will bring the marine layer back on Friday.

The ridge of high pressure is continuing to move southeast Thursday into the Pacific Northwest, but will reach the Nevada and Utah border by Friday. Interior temperatures will keep warming.

The high will strengthen a bit on Saturday. There will be moderate onshore flow on the Central Coast with the marine layer extended again by an eddy. The South Coast may have a weak sundowner wind event.

Sunday will be the peak of the heat before the ridge weakens and onshore flow increases again Monday. The night to morning low-level cloud pattern will expand going into Tuesday morning.
