Tuesday morning forecast May 4th

The region is warming Tuesday, especially in interior areas where temperatures could reach into the upper 80s to low 90s. On the coast, temperatures will mainly stick in the upper 60s to the 70s.

A ridge of high pressure is building into the region, making it the warmest day of the week. Onshore flow is weakening, clearing skies on the Central Coast. However, an eddy will bring more clouds to the South Coast.

Temperatures will back off a little bit midweek as the ridge flattens in response to a trough in the northwest. Southwest flow will prevail aloft.

By Thursday, low pressure will overtake conditions and continue the cooling trend. Onshore flow will increase once again, bringing back the marine layer.

Temperatures may recover slightly Saturday with gusty winds, but cool once again to near or slightly below normal on Mother's Day.
