Monday evening forecast – Jan. 6th
Gusty northeast winds will continue across Ventura County's mountains and valleys and San Luis Obispo County's coast through Tuesday morning. Otherwise it will be mostly clear to partly cloudy through Tuesday. The combination of clouds and a cooler seabreeze will drop maximum temperatures by 6-10 degrees over today. Temperatures will stay above average on Tuesday primarily in the upper 60s to low 70s. It will get chilly once again tonight with most lows in the 40s.
Another low pressure system will pass north of the region later in the week, bringing a slight chance of precipitation mostly for the mountains. Temperatures should trend cooler though the week.
The trough will continue to dig southeastward across the great basin and northern Rockies on Wednesday. This pattern is ripe for occasional sundowner winds along with upslope moisture on the north slopes of the mountains. A few mountain rain or snow showers will be possible Wednesday afternoon. Winds are expected to pick up again on Wednesday. Temperatures will continue to drop into the 60s for valleys and coasts, very near normal for this time of the year.
More energy drops into the back side of the upper trough sitting over the great basin and Rockies by Thursday. This system looks like it may hold together a little better as it drops southward for at least a slight chance of precipitation on Thursday.
For now precipitation amounts look minimal as we get closer to the midpoint of one of our wettest months of the year.
